Ratio Oil Exploration LTD (Ratio) engaged Marine Ventures International, Inc. (MVI) to develop two high-level policy documents that meet the international environmental, health, and safety standards required of oil and gas operators throughout the world.  The documents supported Ratio’s efforts to be formally recognized by the Israeli government as a legitimate offshore oil and gas operator. The policy statements were sufficiently broad to be applicable to all phases of Ratio’s operations (e.g., seismic, exploration, development, and production) and provided the framework for Ratio to develop specific standards and procedures later.

The work of a Protected Species Observer (PSO) is relatively unknown and often misunderstood, even within the marine industry. The romanticized image of an individual standing on the bow of a ship, the sun gently caressing their face while a salty breeze gently tussles their hair as they search the seas for whales reflects the marginal awareness of what PSOs do.

Marine Ventures International, Inc. (MVI) provided shorebird monitoring services from May through June 2019 on behalf of Norfolk Dredging Company (NDC) for the Pinellas County Shore Protection Project in Pinellas County, Florida pursuant to the requirements of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) contract W912EP-13-D-0010. This year’s bird survey was a continuation from the previous year’s survey under the same USACE contract.  NDC provided beach nourishment of Upham Beach located on Long Key, a barrier island west of St. Petersburg, Florida.

Marine Ventures International, Inc. (MVI) conducted desktop studies to address the issue of the ecotoxicological effects of methanol discharged in produced water from two platforms in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.  Oil and gas operators sometimes inject methanol into pipelines to prevent methane hydrate formation and to dissolve hydrates in producing oil and gas wells, platform and subsea hydrocarbon systems.
